Repairing failed DC power
jack on my Dell Inspiron 700M was a quick fix. Diagnosing the problem was easy. The power cord constantly falls off and the laptop randomly shuts down without any
warning.
To
fix my laptop, it
requires experience with soldering and repairing computers. First of all, my laptop has to be
disassembled to remove the motherboard.
Now if you have a warranty, it would be best to invoke
the warranty contract and get the laptop fixed by Dell Repair professionals. But in this case, I did not renew my laptop warranty so sending to Dell Repair Dept will cost me a fortune...
For
the repair the following
tools were needed.
1. Soldering iron or soldering station.
2. Standard rosin core solder.
3. Desoldering pump for removing solder around component leads .
4. A new DC power jack, you can find a cheap one on ebay.
